「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、鳥居反り中鋒。茎は区が二寸程送られ鑢目は筋違い、茎尻は一文字に切られる。「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は小板目肌つみ、板目・杢目肌交じり、所々大肌交え、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景細かく入り、鉄明るく冴える。「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は焼き幅の広い、沸出来の直刃がやや湾れ、刃縁砂流しかかり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は刃紋成りに入り小丸に返る。「特徴 detailed」
大和守安定は、越前国に生まれ、俗名を冨田宗兵衛といいます。最初の師は父であり、紀州藩工を務めた紀伊国安廣でした。
元和6年（1620年）、安定が5歳の時に父と共に越前から紀州へ移住し、紀州で成長しました。父である紀伊国安廣は、初代重國の没後である寛永13年（1636年）に、紀州藩の抱え工となり、40石の禄を与えられました。
その後、寛永27年（1650年）に安定は大和大掾の官位を受領しました。しかし同年、父・安廣が藩工を解任されたため、父子ともに江戸へ移り、安定は二代康継に師事しました。
安定の作る刀は切れ味の良さで名高く、新選組の沖田総司が愛用した刀としても知られています。近年では、人気アニメ 「刀剣乱舞」 に登場したことで、さらに知名度を高めています。
本作について
本刀は磨り上げ（短縮） されていますが、なお 2尺3寸4分（約70.9cm） の長さを誇り、地鉄・刃文ともに見事な仕上がりです。
特筆すべきは、「寛文二年八月日（1662年）」という年紀銘が茎裏に刻まれていること です。年紀の入った安定の作品は非常に少なく、極めて貴重な一振りです。

Yamato no Kami Yasuyasu was born in Echizen Province with the common name Tomita Sobei. His first teacher was his father, Kii no Kuni Yasuhiro, who served as a swordsmith for the Kishu Domain.
In 1620 (Genna 6), at the age of five, Yasuyasu moved from Echizen to Kishu with his father and grew up there. His father, Kii no Kuni Yasuhiro, became an official swordsmith for the Kishu Domain in 1636 (Kanei 13) with an annual stipend of 40 koku after the passing of the first-generation Shigekuni.
Later, in 1650 (Kanei 27), Yasuyasu was granted the title of Yamato Daijo. However, in the same year, his father was dismissed from his position as a domain swordsmith, leading both father and son to move to Edo. There, Yasuyasu studied under the second-generation Yasutsugu.
Yasuyasu’s swords are highly regarded for their exceptional sharpness, and he is famously known as the swordsmith of Okita Soji’s favorite blade from the Shinsengumi. Recently, his swords have gained further recognition due to their appearance in the popular anime “Touken Ranbu.”
About This Piece:
Although it has been suriage (shortened), the blade still retains an impressive length of 2 shaku 3 sun 4 bu (approximately 70.9 cm), and both the jigane (steel surface) and hamon (temper line) are beautifully executed.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this sword is the engraved date “Kanbun 2, August” (1662) on the nakago (tang). Dated works by Yasuyasu are extremely rare, making this a highly valuable and collectible piece.

拵のコンディションは凄く良いです。
ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅地一重の磨き地。
鍔(tsuba) ：鉄地木瓜形菊透かし（京透鍔）。
縁頭(futikasira)：赤銅魚子地秋草秋虫の図（無銘美濃）。
目貫(menuki) ：赤銅地武具の図。
柄(tsuka) ：鮫は親粒が付き巻鮫。柄巻きは正絹黒色の諸撮み巻き。
鞘(saya) ：焦げ茶木目地笛巻き鞘、鐺は削り出し。白鞘、つなぎ。｢刀剣の状態 condition of blade｣
研：概ね良好です。
傷：欠点に成るような傷は有りません。
