「刀姿 sword figure」
平造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、無反りふくら程良く枯れる。茎は生で化粧鑢がかかり、茎尻は栗尻。
Hiratsukuri with an iori-mune. The blade has a standard width and no curvature, with a moderately refined fumbari that has gracefully diminished. The tang is ubu (unaltered) and finished with decorative file marks (keshō-yasuri), and the tang tip is kuri-jiri (rounded).
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ地沸厚く付く。
The jihada consists of flowing itame grain, with a thick and abundant presence of ji-nie.
「刃紋 hamon」
刃文は互の目で刃緑荒沸が付き砂流しがかかり、刃中金筋が入る。帽子は刃紋なりに湾込み小丸に返る。
The hamon is in a gunome pattern, with rough ara-nie forming along the habuchi and sunagashi running through it; kinsuji are visible within the hardened edge. The boshi follows the hamon, curves gently (wan-komi), and turns back in a small round (ko-maru).
「特徴 detailed」
源貞和、本名は安達和喜。田辺市龍神村殿原に在住しています。師は刀匠・龍神太郎源貞行で、同氏は従兄弟にもあたります。
私は貞和刀匠とは長年の親しい友人です。性格は温厚で実直であり、刀鍛冶のほかに金工の仕事にも携わっています。
鍛錬所のある龍神村殿原は、深い緑の山々と清らかな水に恵まれた山里です。1945年には近くの山にB-29が墜落し、村の明神神社には慰霊碑が建立され、毎年慰霊祭が行われています。
本作はお守り刀として制作された短刀です。地鉄はよく鍛えられ、よく詰んだ肌合いを呈し、優れた互の目刃文を焼いています。言うまでもなく、鎺も貞和刀匠自身の作です。
刀身および白鞘ともに、状態は良好です。
Minamoto Sadakazu, whose real name is Adachi Kazuki, resides in Tonohara, Ryujin Village, Tanabe City. His teacher is the swordsmith Ryujin Taro Minamoto Sadayuki, who is also his cousin.
I have known Sadakazu for many years as a close friend. He is gentle and earnest in character, and in addition to swordsmithing, he also works as a metal engraver (kinko).
Tonohara in Ryūjin Village, where his forge is located, is a mountain hamlet blessed with deep green forests and pure, clear water. In 1945, a B-29 crashed into a nearby mountain. A memorial monument stands at the village’s Myōjin Shrine, where a memorial service is held annually.
This piece is a tanto made as a protective amulet sword (mamori-gatana). It features well-forged, tightly grained jihada and an excellent gunome hamon. Needless to say, the habaki was also crafted by Sadakazu himself.
The condition of both the blade and the shirasaya is excellent.
