「刀姿 sword figure」
平造り庵棟、身幅やや太く重尋常、反り僅かふくら程よく枯れる。茎は生で鑢目は筋違い、茎尻は栗尻。
「彫物 carving」
彫物は、差表に一筋樋、差裏には護箸が彫られる。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は、板目肌が流れ柾心と成り地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は互ノ目乱れ、刃縁沸付き砂流しかかる。刃中は葉が入り金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
秀宗刀匠は、本名を松原龍平といい、昭和5年（1930年）生まれです。13代川島正秀刀匠および中田兼秀刀匠に師事しました。岐阜県関市在住で、全日本刀匠会の会員として新作名刀展において数々の入選を果たしています。
本作は慶長新刀の寸延短刀を再現した一振りで、身幅の太い大振りな刀姿に、よく詰んだ板目肌を鍛え、その上に見事な相州伝の互の目乱れを焼いた逸品です。
お守り刀として最適な作品です。
Swordsmith Hidemune, whose real name is Ryuhei Matsubara, was born in 1930 (Showa 5). He studied under the 13th-generation swordsmith Kawashima Masahide and the swordsmith Nakata Kanehide. He resides in Seki, Gifu Prefecture, and is a member of the All Japan Swordsmith Association. He has achieved numerous selections at the New Sword Exhibition.
This piece is a reproduction of an extended tantō in the Keichō Shintō style. It features a powerful, large-scale form with a wide blade, a finely forged itame-hada, and an impressive Sōshū-den gunome-midare hamon.
It is an ideal piece to be carried as a protective talisman sword.
