鎬造り庵棟、身幅太く重尋常、鳥居反り大鋒。茎は生で化粧鑢がかかり、茎尻は栗尻。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌に小板目が交じり流れ柾となり、地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は沸出来の兼房丁子、刃縁沸が付き砂流しがかかり、刃中は金筋が栄んに働く。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
二十五代藤原兼房、本名は加藤賀津雄、昭和32年1月7日生まれ、岐阜県関市在住。昭和50年月山貞一に入門、昭和57年刀匠免許を取得する。昭和53年に関市に帰り、父の代二十四代兼房に師事。昭和54年日本刀鍛錬所を開設、二十五代兼房を襲名する。平成16年より毎年ロシアのモスクワやサンクトペテルブルグにて日本刀を紹介する。平成16年10月ドイツのケ ルン、ミュンヘンにて日本刀鍛錬の実演をする。同年11月靖国神社にて、親子三代奉納鍛錬をし、後に脇差を奉納。平成19年20年ヨルダン・ハシェミット王国のフセイン国王へ計７振の刀を納める。
全日本刀匠会元常務理事、 日本美術刀剣保存協会三匠会元監査、関伝技術保存会元副会長、関伝刀匠会元会長を務める。
本作、家伝の兼房丁子を相州伝風に焼いた脇差で、身幅太く大鋒の豪壮な姿をしているます。
二十五代藤原兼房刀匠の脇差は少なく、大変貴重な一振りです。
Fujiwara Kanefusa 25th generation, whose real name is Kazuo Kato, was born on January 7, 1957 (Showa 32) and resides in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. In 1975 (Showa 50) he became a disciple of Gassan Sadakazu, and in 1982 (Showa 57) he obtained his swordsmith license. In 1978 (Showa 53), he returned to Seki and studied under his father, Kanefusa 24th generation. In 1979 (Showa 54), he established the Nihontō Forging Workshop and succeeded to the name of Kanefusa 25th generation.
Since 2004 (Heisei 16), he has introduced Japanese swords every year in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. In October of the same year, he gave sword-forging demonstrations in Cologne and Munich, Germany. In November, he performed a dedication forging together with his father and son at Yasukuni Shrine and later dedicated a wakizashi. In 2007 and 2008, he presented a total of seven swords to King Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
He has served as a former Executive Director of the All Japan Swordsmith Association, former Auditor of the Three Masters Association of the NBTHK (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), former Vice President of the Sekiden Technology Preservation Society, and former President of the Sekiden Swordsmith Association.
This piece is a wakizashi featuring the traditional family Kanefusa choji hamon executed in a Sōshū-den style. It has a robust and imposing form with a wide body and large kissaki.
Wakizashi by Fujiwara Kanefusa 25th generation are few in number, making this a highly valuable piece.
