「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅やや細く重尋常、鳥居反り大鋒。茎は区は生で鑢目は筋違い、茎尻は一文字に切られる。
Shinogi-zukuri with an iori-mune (peaked back), the blade is slightly narrow in width and of standard thickness, featuring a torii-style curvature and a large kissaki (point). The tang (nakago) is unaltered (ubu), the file marks (yasurime) are slanted, and the end of the tang is cut straight (haagari or ichimonji).
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が刃緑付近で流れ柾と成り、肌立ち地沸付き白気映りが立つ。
The jigane shows itame-hada that becomes flowing and tends toward masame near the ha, with well-formed ji-nie.
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は小沸出来の中直刃が浅く湾れる。刃縁砂流しかかり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は直ぐに入り小丸に返る。
The hamon is a shallowly undulating chū-suguha (medium-width straight temper line) in ko-nie deki (composed of fine martensite crystals). The habuchi (blade edge) shows hints of sunagashi (sweeping streaks), and the interior of the hamon features active kinsuji (bright, lightning-like lines). The bōshi (temper line in the tip) runs straight and turns back in a small丸 (komaru) shape.
「特徴 detailed」
加州（加賀国）の兼種は、本国越前において越前関の流派に属していました。室町時代後期、前田利家公が越前の府中から加賀に国替えとなった際、これに従って加賀へ移住しました。
この刀は、二代目兼種の作とされています。刀身は慶長新刀の力強い姿をしており、大きな鋒（きっさき）を備え、非常に迫力のある印象です。鑑定書では貞享頃の二代兼種の作とされていますが、初代加州兼種の作である可能性も高いと考えられます。
地鉄は美しい板目肌で、白け映りが明瞭に現れています。刃文は中直刃で、小沸がよく働いており、優れた技量がうかがえる見事な出来です。
拵（こしらえ）は傷んでいたため修復されており、柄（つか）は鮫皮を張り替え、柄糸も新しく巻き直されています。鞘（さや）は新品です。
この刀はコレクションとして最適であるだけでなく、居合の実用にも十分耐えうる一振りです。
Kanetsune of Kashū (Kaga Province) belonged to the Echizen-Seki school, originally based in Echizen Province. In the late Muromachi period, he relocated to Kaga, accompanying Lord Maeda Toshiie when Maeda was transferred from Fuchū in Echizen to Kaga.
This sword is a work by the second-generation Kanetsune. The blade has the bold appearance of a Keichō-era Shintō, featuring a large kissaki and a powerful presence. While the authentication paper attributes it to the second-generation Kanetsune from around the Jōkyō era, there is a strong possibility that it may actually be the work of the first-generation Kanetsune of Kashū.
The jigane (surface steel) is a beautiful itame-hada (wood-grain pattern) with prominent shirake-utsuri (whitish reflections), and the hamon (temper line) is a superb chū-suguha (medium-width straight pattern) with active ko-nie (fine crystalline structures), showcasing excellent craftsmanship.
The koshirae (mounting) had deteriorated, so it has been repaired. The tsuka (handle) has been rewrapped with new same (rayskin) and fresh tsukamaki (handle wrapping). The saya (scabbard) is newly made.
This sword is ideal for a collector, but it is also fully functional and suitable for Iaido practice.

ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅地一重磨き地。
鍔(tsuba) ：鉄地大國の図。
縁頭(fuchikashira): 赤銅魚子地菊の図。
目貫(menuki) ：赤銅地馬玩具の図。
柄(tsuka) ：鮫は巻鮫（見えないところに合わせ目が有ります）、柄巻は正絹焦げ茶色の諸撮み巻。
鞘(saya) ：黒呂。
白鞘、つなぎ。
