「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅やや細く重やや薄く、鳥居反り小鋒。茎は生で筋違い鑢がかかる、茎尻は刃上がりの栗尻。
It is of shinogi-zukuri with an iori-mune. The mihaba is slightly narrow, the kasane is somewhat thin, and it has a torii-zori with a ko-kissaki.
The nakago is ubu (original) with sujikai-yasuri, and the nakago-jiri is ha-agari kurijiri.
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は柾目肌に地沸付く。
The jigane shows masame-hada with well-formed ji-nie.
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は沸出来の直刃が湾れ、刃縁沸付き砂流しかかりり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は刃紋成りに入り小丸に返る。
The hamon is a nie-deki suguha with gentle undulation. Nie is well formed along the ha, with sunagashi appearing, and kinsuji are active within the hamon.
The bōshi follows the hamon and turns back in a small round (komaru) form.
「特徴 detailed」
これは無銘の新々刀です。幕末に実戦用として製作された刀で、軽量かつバランス良く作られています。
刀身は古研ぎのため全体に曇りがありますが、地鉄および刃紋は確認できます。
九八式軍刀拵は初期型で、そのため金具類の金鍍金の質が特に良好です。
切羽は四枚で、**シリアル番号は「3」**です。ただし、縁側の切羽は縁にロウ付けされています。
これは縁の底板が欠けているためと思われます。鍔にガタつきがないことから、四枚切羽はオリジナルと考えられます。
柄・鞘・金具類はいずれもコンディションが非常に良く、拵は新品同様の状態です。
なお、なぜか海軍士官用の刀緒が付属しています。
This is an unsigned Shinshinto-period sword. It was made as a practical combat sword during the Bakumatsu period, and is light in weight with very good balance. The blade is in an old polish and appears cloudy, but the jihada and hamon are still visible. The Type 98 guntō koshirae is an early-production model, and for that reason the quality of the gilt finish on the fittings is particularly good. There are four seppa, and the serial number is “3.” However, the seppa on the fuchi side is soldered to the fuchi. This may be because the fuchi lacks a bottom plate. Since there is no looseness in the tsuba, the four-seppa configuration is considered original. The tsuka, saya, and all fittings are in excellent condition, and the koshirae is in a near-new state. For some reason, the sword is fitted with a naval officer’s sword tassel.
