「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、鳥居反り小鋒。茎は生で筋違い鑢がかかる、茎尻は浅い入山形。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ柾がかり、地沸付き肌立つ。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は互の目、尖り刃を焼き匂口明るく、砂流しかかり銀筋流れ、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み掃き掛け中丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
洛陽藤原廣信は、江戸時代初期・寛永頃に活躍した京の刀工で、享保頃の四代までその系譜が確認されています。
初代（寛永頃）と二代（寛文頃）は、紀伊国和歌山城下で鍛刀していたことが知られています。
本刀には明暦三年（1657年）の年紀があるため、初代廣信の晩年作と考えられます。
本作で特筆すべき点は、
「洛陽藤原廣信於紀伊州和歌山造之」
と切られた銘です。
廣信の紀州打ちの銘として一般的に見られるのは、
「洛陽住藤原廣信於紀州造之」
「洛陽住於紀州藤原廣信」
と、「於紀州」とするものです。
しかし本作は、
「於紀伊州和歌山」
と切られており、非常に珍しい一振りです。
刀身の状態は良好で、白鞘も保存状態が良く、鎺は金着です。
紀州・和歌山にゆかりのある方には特におすすめしたい、貴重な一振りです。
Rakuyo Fujiwara Hironobu was a Kyoto swordsmith active around the early Edo period. His lineage is confirmed up to the 4th generation, active around the Kyoho era. The first and second generations (Kan’ei and Kanbun periods) are known to have forged swords in the castle town of Wakayama in Kii Province. Because this blade bears a date corresponding to Meireki 3 (1657), it is believed to be a late work by the first-generation Hironobu. A particularly noteworthy point of this sword is the signature: “Rakuyō Fujiwara Hironobu made this in Wakayama, Kii Province” (洛陽藤原廣信於紀伊州和歌山造之). Hironobu’s typical Kishu-made signatures read: “Rakuyō-jū Fujiwara Hironobu, made in Kishu” (洛陽住藤原廣信於紀州造之) or “Rakuyō-jū, in Kishu, Fujiwara Hironobu” (洛陽住於紀州藤原廣信). However, this blade is extremely rare in that the inscription is cut as “於紀伊州和歌山” (“in Wakayama, Kii Province”), making it a highly unusual example. The blade is in good condition, and the shirasaya is also well preserved; the habaki is gold-covered. This is a precious sword—highly recommended for anyone with a connection to Kishu or Wakayama.
