「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造、庵棟、身幅広く重尋常、鳥居反り大鋒。茎は生で鑢目は切、茎尻は栗尻。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌、少しく杢交じり、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景太く入る。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は互の目乱れ、小互の目丁子風の刃など交じり、足入り、匂い本位に小沸つき、飛び焼きを焼き、金筋栄んに入り、砂流し幾重にもかかり、匂口明るく冴える。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
源盛吉は本名 谷川松吉、大正九年生まれ、熊本県八代市で鍛刀していました。盛吉は昭和九年金剛兵衛盛高靖博師に入門、後に延寿太郎宣繁に学ぶ。
銘は金剛兵衛一門の「盛」の字を冠詞し「盛吉」と名乗るが、延寿宣繁師の弟子でもあることから、昭和十六年、盛吉とは別に「延寿宣次」も名乗る。
昭和五十二年に講和記念刀を制作。昭和二十九年の第一回作刀技術発表会から連続出品し、数々の賞を受賞し、昭和60年に無鑑査刀匠となります。源清麿写では名声を高め、迫力のある相州伝の傑作、数々の名作を残しました。
延寿宣次は本名、谷川博允は昭和二十三年生まれ。熊本県八代市在住。師は父で有る源盛吉刀匠、父の別銘「延寿宣次」を名乗る。
本作、盛吉刀匠が得意とした清麿写しで、豪壮な刀姿、刃中に栄んに入った金筋が見事です。刀身が長く身幅の広い刀姿に相州伝を焼いた豪壮な刀です、盛吉刀匠の清磨写しを是非コレクションに加えて下さい。
Moriyoshi Minamoto, whose real name was Shoukichi Tanigawa, was born in 1920 (Taisho 9) and worked as a swordsmith in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. In 1934 (Showa 9), he apprenticed under Yasuhira Moritaka Kongobei, and later studied under Nobushige Enju Taro.
He adopted the name “Moriyoshi,” using the character “Mori” (盛) from the Kongobei school, but as a disciple of Nobushige Enju, he also signed “Enju Nobutsugu” (延寿宣次) separately from 1941 (Showa 16).
In 1977 (Showa 52), he created a peace treaty commemorative sword. He continuously exhibited his works from the first sword-forging technique exhibition held in 1954 (Showa 29), winning numerous awards. In 1985 (Showa 60), he was designated a Mukansa (exempt from appraisal) swordsmith. He became especially renowned for his reproductions of Kiyomaro swords, creating many outstanding works in the powerful Sōshū-den style.
Enju Nobutsugu, real name Hirochika Tanigawa, was born in 1948 (Showa 23) and resides in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. He studied under his father, Moriyoshi Minamoto, and adopted his father’s alternate name “Enju Nobutsugu.”
This piece is a Kiyomaro-style sword, a specialty of Moriyoshi, featuring a bold and powerful form and beautiful kinsuji activity in the blade. With its long and wide blade and magnificent Sōshū-den tempering, this is an excellent piece that would be a valuable addition to any collection.
