「体配 style」
体配は平造り庵棟、身幅広く重尋常、反り僅かふくら程よく枯れる。茎は生で筋違い鑢がかかり、茎尻は栗尻と成る。
「彫物 carving」
彫り物は、表に「南無妙法蓮華経」、裏には「富貴□□」が彫られる。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は、小板目が良く詰み、地沸厚く付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は、華やかな丁子刃、足良く入り、刃中は金筋が入る。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
兼幸、銘は他に肥後國住赤松太郎兼幸とも切る、本名は木村安宏、昭和56年生まれ、熊本県八代市在住。彼は木村兼嗣刀匠の次男で兄は木村兼光（光宏）刀匠です。
赤松太郎は、兼嗣を筆頭として兼裕、兼照、兼光、兼幸を育成しています。そしてそれらの刀工は赤松太郎と銘を付け清麿写しには定評があります。
また、彼らは、自家製鉄により玉鋼を制作して作刀を行う為、現在流通している日刀保の玉鋼とはやや趣きが異なります。
本作、身幅が太い豪壮な短刀に華やかな丁子刃を焼き、差表には「南無妙法蓮華経」差裏には「富貴□□」が彫られていますが、富貴の後の字が読めません。
拵は合口拵で飾り目釘は銀無垢に金鍍金をした物です。
Kaneyuki, who also signs as “Higo no Kuni-jū Akamatsu Tarō Kaneyuki,” is a swordsmith whose real name is Yasuhiro Kimura. He was born in 1981 (Showa 56) and resides in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. He is the second son of swordsmith Kimura Kanetsugu, and his older brother is swordsmith Kimura Kanemitsu (Mitsuhiro).
The Akamatsu Tarō lineage includes Kanetsugu, Kaneyasu, Kaneteru, Kanemitsu, and Kaneyuki. These swordsmiths are particularly well-regarded for their reproductions of Kiyomaro-style blades.
They also produce their own tamahagane (traditional Japanese sword steel) through a self-smelting process, which gives their swords a distinct character compared to those made with tamahagane supplied by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK).
This piece is a robust and powerful tantō with a wide blade and a flamboyant chōji hamon (clove-shaped temper line). The sashi omote (front side) is engraved with “Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō” (Homage to the Lotus Sutra), and the sashi ura (reverse side) is engraved with “Fuki [illegible character],” though the character after “Fuki” is unclear.
The koshirae is an aikuchi-style mounting, and the decorative mekugi (peg) is made of solid silver with gold plating.
