「刀姿 sword figure」
平造り、庵棟身幅重尋常、無反りふくら程よく枯れる。茎は生で切鑢がかかる、茎尻は入山形。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ柾目となり、地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は小沸出来の中直刃、刃縁砂流しがかかり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は直ぐに入り小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
綱廣（本名：山村尚正）は昭和18年（1943年）生まれで、現在は神奈川県鎌倉市にて「正宗工芸美術制作所」を営んでいます。師は靖国刀匠の増田靖要で、昭和47年に文化庁より作刀認可を受け、先祖代々受け継がれてきた刀匠名「綱廣」を襲名しました。
山村家の古文書によれば、初代は鎌倉時代末期に活躍した五郎入道正宗であり、5代目の山村廣正の代に戦国武将・北条氏綱から「綱」の一字を賜り、以後「綱廣」と名乗るようになったとされています。以来、現代の綱廣氏まで、正宗より受け継がれる名匠の技と「綱廣」の名が脈々と伝えられてきました。
本作はお守り刀として作られた短刀で、綱廣刀匠には珍しい大和伝の刃文を焼いた、非常に優れた一振りです。
Tsunahiro, whose real name is Yamamura Naomasa, was born in 1943 (Showa 18) and operates the Masamune Craft Art Studio in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. His teacher was Masuda Yasukane, one of the Yasukuni swordsmiths. In 1972 (Showa 47), he received authorization to forge swords from the Agency for Cultural Affairs and inherited the swordsmith name “Tsunahiro,” which has been passed down through his family for generations.
According to Yamamura family documents, the first generation was Goro Nyudo Masamune, who was active in the late Kamakura period. It is said that in the time of the fifth-generation Yamamura Hiromasa, he received the character “綱” from the Sengoku-period warlord Hojo Ujitsuna and began using the name Tsunahiro. Since then, up to the present-day Tsunahiro, the name and the master craftsmanship inherited from Masamune have been handed down in an unbroken line.
This piece is a tanto made as an omamori-gatana (protective dagger). It is a rare and exceptional work by Yamamura Tsunahiro, showcasing a Yamato-den hamon—something not often seen in his works.
