「刀姿 sword figure」
平造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、反り無しふくら程良く枯れる。茎は生で化粧鑢がかかり、茎尻は刃上がりの栗尻。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は互の目、刃縁細かな沸が付き、刃中は葉・金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
雲州長吉（本名：上田長吉）は、松江石橋町に住し、江戸時代末期に雲州松江藩・松平家のお抱え鍛冶として活躍した刀工です。
松江は、NHK朝ドラ「ばけばけ」の舞台としても知られる城下町で、ラフカディオ・ハーンと小泉セツが暮らした地です。本短刀が製作された翌年の慶応4年（1868年）に、小泉セツは松江南田町で誕生しています。石橋町と南田町はごく近く、もしかすると養父・稲垣金十郎らが長吉の刀剣を所持していた可能性も考えられます。
刀身は古研ぎではあるものの健全で、拵の状態も良好です。
幕末から明治への激動期の松江を見てきた短刀。歴史を感じられる一振りを手に入れる絶好の機会です。
Unshu Nagayoshi, whose real name was Ueda Nagayoshi, lived in Ishibashi Town, Matsue, and served as a retained swordsmith for the Matsudaira family of the Unshū Matsue domain during the late Edo period.
Unshū Matsue is known as the setting of the NHK morning drama “Bakebake,” and it is the castle town where Lafcadio Hearn and Koizumi Setsu lived. This tanto was made one year before the birth of Koizumi Setsu, who was born in Keiō 4 (1868) in Minamidamachi, Matsue. Ishibashi Town and Minamidamachi are very close to each other—virtually within sight. It is even possible that Setsu’s adoptive father, Inagaki Kinjūrō, may have owned a blade made by Nagayoshi.
The blade is in good condition overall, despite being in an old polish, and the koshirae is also in fine condition.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a tanto that has witnessed the history of Matsue through the turbulent Bakumatsu and Meiji eras.

合口拵。
ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅地一重の腰祐乗。
柄(tsuka) : 縁と頭は水牛の角、柄巻は牛表革焦げ茶色の一貫巻。
鞘(saya) ：黒に茶色の蛭巻塗。

研：古研ぎですが概ね良好です。
傷：欠点になるような傷は有りません。
