「刀姿 sword figure」
平造り三つ棟、身幅重尋常、無反りふくら程良く枯れる。茎は生で鑢目は筋違いで桜紋が入り、茎尻は栗尻。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌に小板目が交じり、地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は沸出来の中直刃、刃縁砂流しかかり、刃中は稲妻が入る。釯子は直に入り小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
清行、本名は古川信夫、昭和23年長野県生まれ。東京理科大学で応用物理学を専攻していましたが、在学中に訪れた信濃美術館の名刀展にて、日本刀に魅せられ刀匠を志します。
昭和47年に大学を卒業後、人間国宝である刀匠「宮入昭平」の弟「宮入清平」に弟子入り。
昭和53年に文化庁から作刀承認を受け、昭和56年長野県須坂市下八町に鍛刀場を開き独立する。
昭和62年の新作名刀展にて寒山賞を獲得すると、以降特賞・優秀賞等を多数受賞、平成19年には、刀匠としての功績が認められ、長野県須坂市無形文化財に指定されます。そして平成21年の新作名刀展にて日本美術刀剣保存協会名誉会長賞を受賞すると、刀匠界で人間国宝に次ぐ名誉とされる無鑑査に認定されました。
本作は良く鍛えた板目肌に、小沸出来の直刃を焼いた優れた短刀で、刀身のコンディション良く、また合口拵のコンディションも良く、お守り短刀として最適です。
Kiyoyuki (real name: Nobuo Furukawa) was born in 1948 (Showa 23) in Nagano Prefecture. He majored in Applied Physics at Tokyo University of Science, but during his time as a student, he visited an exhibition of fine Japanese swords at the Shinano Art Museum and became captivated by the beauty of Japanese swords, which inspired him to pursue a career as a swordsmith.
After graduating from university in 1972 (Showa 47), he became an apprentice to Kiyohei Miyairi, the younger brother of the Living National Treasure swordsmith Shohei Miyairi.
In 1978 (Showa 53), he received official approval to forge swords from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and in 1981 (Showa 56), he established his own forge in Shimohatcho, Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture.
In 1987 (Showa 62), he was awarded the Kansan Prize at the New Sword Exhibition. He continued to receive numerous awards, including special and excellence prizes. In 2007 (Heisei 19), he was designated an Intangible Cultural Property by Suzaka City for his achievements as a swordsmith.
In 2009 (Heisei 21), he won the Honorary Chairman’s Prize from the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords at the New Sword Exhibition and was subsequently granted Mukansa status, the highest honor next to that of Living National Treasure in the swordsmithing world.
This particular piece is an excellent tanto forged with well-crafted itame-hada (wood-grain steel pattern) and a straight hamon in the ko-nie style. The blade is in excellent condition, and the aikuchi mounting is also well-preserved, making it ideal as a protective omamori tanto.
｢拵 Koshirae｣
水牛の角を使った合口拵で、コンディションは良好です。
ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅地金着一重の総祐乗。
目貫(menuki) ：赤銅地蓮の図。
柄(tsuka) ：鮫は親粒が付き出し鮫。
鞘(saya) ：青色の貝散し塗り鞘、返り角が付く。
