「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、浅い鳥居反り中鋒。茎は生で鑢目は筋違い、茎尻は栗尻。
Shinogi-zukuri with an iori-mune (peaked back). The blade has standard width and thickness, with a shallow torii-style curvature and a medium-sized kissaki.
The tang (nakago) is ubu (unaltered) with sujikai-yasuri (diagonal file marks), and the tang tip is in kuri-jiri (rounded chestnut) form.
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は、板目肌に小板目が交じり板目が流れ、地沸付く。
The jigane (surface steel) shows an itame-hada mixed with ko-itame, with the grain flowing, and ji-nie present.
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は、互の目乱れ、刃縁沸が付き砂流しかかり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み、履き掛け尖り気味に深く返る。
The hamon is gunome-midare, with nie along the habuchi and sunagashi running through it. Within the hamon, kinsuji are actively present.
The bōshi is midare-komi, showing a hakikake tendency, somewhat pointed, and turning back deeply.
「特徴 detailed」
栄次は、江戸時代・寛文頃に活躍した美濃関の刀工です。銘鑑では天文頃に関で一人のみ記載されていますが、後代が続いていた可能性が考えられます。
本作は、反りの浅い寛文新刀らしい刀姿を呈し、よく詰んだ地鉄に互の目乱れを焼いた優れた一振りで、刀身のコンディションも良好です。
拵の状態も良く、柄巻は新品に巻き替えられています。
保存刀剣に指定された江戸時代初期の新刀で、拵付きのものは貴重です。
Hidetsugu was a swordsmith of the Mino Seki tradition who was active around the Kanbun era of the Edo period. In swordsmith records, only one smith named Hidetsugu is listed in Seki around the Tenbun era, but it is likely that later generations continued the name.
This piece displays the characteristic shallow curvature of Kanbun Shintō, with a well-forged, tightly refined jigane and a gunome-midare hamon, making it an excellent blade. The condition of the blade is also very good.
The koshirae is in good condition as well, and the tsuka has been newly rewrapped.
This is a Hozon Token designated blade from the early Edo period, and examples with koshirae are rare and highly desirable.

ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅一重の磨き地。
鍔(tsuba) ：鉄地葵の図（越前記内）。
縁頭(futikasira)：赤銅魚子地玄武の図金象嵌。
目貫(menuki) ：赤銅地山鳩の図金銀色絵。
柄(tsuka) ：柄は親粒が付き巻鮫。柄巻は正絹小豆色の諸撮み巻。
鞘(saya) : 黒呂。
