「刀姿 sword figure」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅重尋常、腰反り猪首鋒。茎は生で筋違い鑢がかかる、茎尻は栗尻。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ柾と成り、地景入り地沸つく。
「刃紋 hamon」
波紋は重花丁子刃、飛び焼きを焼き足良く入る、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
天龍子秀寿、本名金崎秀寿、昭和十九年生まれ、鳥取市の出身で、父の天日斎助寿（金崎義一）に学び、天龍子と号しました。秀寿の名前は、源清麿の大ファンであった父が、清麿初期銘の『秀寿』を本名、刀匠銘として付けたものです。また金崎親子は、水心子正秀、池田一秀、池田靖光、助寿、秀寿と続く、水心子系門人に当たります。
本作は、古一文字の大太刀を写した物で、猪首鋒で腰反りの強い太刀姿に重花丁子を焼いた秀寿刀匠渾身の一作です。
Tenryūshi Hidetoshi, real name Kanesaki Hidetoshi, was born in 1944 (Showa 19) in Tottori City. He studied under his father, Tenpissai Suketoshi (Kanesaki Giichi), and took the name Tenryūshi. His given name “Hidetoshi” was chosen by his father, a great admirer of Minamoto Kiyomaro, who used the early signature “Hidetoshi” on his blades. The Kanesaki family belongs to the lineage of the Suishinshi school, which includes Suishinshi Masahide, Ikeda Kazukazu, Ikeda Yasumitsu, Suketoshi, and Hidetoshi.
This piece is a faithful reproduction of a grand ōdachi by the Ichimonji school. It features an inoshishi-kubi (boar’s neck) style kissaki and a strongly curved koshi-zori tachi form, with a splendid jūka-chōji hamon. It is a masterpiece forged with the utmost effort by swordsmith Hidetoshi.
