「体配 style」
鎬造り庵棟、身幅太く重尋常、腰反り小鋒。茎は生で化粧鑢がかかり、茎尻は入山形。
「彫物 carving」
彫物は差表に素剣に馬頭観音の梵字と二筋樋、差裏は素剣に不動妙明王の梵字と二筋樋。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は、月山伝の綾杉肌が冴え、地景入り地沸厚く付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
刃紋は、沸出来の互の目、刃縁細かな沸が付き砂流しかかり、刃中は金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み小丸に返る。

1946年 人間国宝 月山貞一の三男として大阪に生まれる。 1969年 大阪工業大学建築学科卒業。父である師の貞一のもと、鍛刀の技を磨く。 1975年 高松宮賞受賞記念、刀匠月山貞利展（大阪にて）開催。 1979年 刀匠月山貞利展（大阪にて）開催。 1982年 新作刀展で名槍日本号模索出品し無鑑査に認定。ボストン美術館での「日本の人間国宝展」で師に同行。 1983年 刀匠月山貞利展（大阪にて）開催。 警視庁総監賞の短刀謹作、新作刀展に国宝丙子椒林剣模作出品。 1984年 月山一門展開催（大阪にて）。第61回伊勢神宮式年遷宮御料太刀７振（師との合作含）鉾3振謹作。 1988年 大阪市立博物館「出羽三山と月山刀匠展」出品。ボストン美術館に於いて「月山歴代とその伝統展」開催。 1989年 奈良県立文化会館「八百年の伝統月山歴代展」開催。 1990年 刀匠月山貞一・貞利展（東京日本橋髙島屋）開催。 1993年 刀匠月山貞利展（東京日本橋髙島屋）開催。 1994年 刀匠月山貞一・一門展（大阪にて）開催。 1995年 奈良県桜井市芽原に月山記念館開設。全日本刀匠理事長就任。(財）日本美術刀剣保存協会評議員、新作刀展審査員。文化庁主催の刀匠技術保存研修会講師となる。横綱貴乃花の太刀謹作。 1996年 奈良県立美術館「人間国宝 刀匠月山貞一回顧展～その技と伝統」出品。 1997年 奈良県桜井市無形文化財保持者指定。刀匠月山貞利展（東京日本橋髙島屋）開催。 2001年 刀匠月山貞利展（日本橋髙島屋）開催。 2003年 模国宝春日若宮社御料太刀謹作。奈良県指定無形文化財保持者認定。奈良新聞文化賞受賞。2015年 叙勲・褒章で旭日双光章受章。

1946 Born in Osaka, the third son of Teiichi Tsukiyama, a living national treasure. Graduated from Osaka Institute of Technology in 1969 with a degree in architecture.He honed his swordsmithing skills under his father, Teiichi. 1975: Held the exhibition “Katana Sho Tsukiyama Sadatoshi” in Osaka in commemoration of receiving the Prince Takamatsu Prize. 1979: Held the exhibition of swordsmith Sadatoshi Tsukiyama in Osaka. 1982 Exhibited his masterpiece spear Nihon-go at the Exhibition of New Swords, which was recognized as unexamined.Accompanied his master in the exhibition “Living National Treasures of Japan” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. 1983 Exhibition of swordsmith Sadatoshi Tsukuyama in Osaka, Japan. He also exhibited a copy of the National Treasure Heishi Shorin Ken at the New Sword Exhibition. 1984 Gassan Ichimon Exhibition was held in Osaka.He made seven sacred swords for the 61st Ise Jingu Shrine (including a joint work with his master) and three hoko (halberds). 1988 Exhibited at the Osaka Municipal Museum, “Dewa Sanzan and Gassan Sword Artisans Exhibition”.Held the “Gassan Rekishi and Their Traditions” exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. 1989 Exhibition “Eight Hundred Year Tradition of Rekiyo Tsukuyama” was held at Nara Prefectural Culture Hall. 1990 Exhibition “Katana Sho Tsukiyama Teiichi and Sadatoshi” was held at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya Department Store in Tokyo. 1993 Exhibition “Katana Sho Tsukiyama Sadatoshi” was held at Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. 1994 Exhibition of swordsmith Sadakazu Tsukuyama and his family was held in Osaka. 1995 Opened the Gassan Memorial Museum in Mebara, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture.Appointed chairman of All Japan Sword Artisans.(Became a councilor of the Association for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords and a judge of the Exhibition of New Swords.Instructor of the training course for the preservation of swordsmith techniques sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.He also made the sword for Yokozuna Takanohana. 1996: Exhibited at the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art, “Living National Treasure: The Retrospective of Master Swordsman Teiichi Tsukuyama – His Techniques and Traditions”. 1997 Designated as an intangible cultural property holder by Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture.Held the exhibition “Katana Sho Tsukiyama Sadatoshi” at Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. 2001 Exhibition “Katana Sho Tsukiyama Sadatoshi” at Takashimaya Department Store, Nihonbashi, Tokyo. 2003: Awarded the title of “National Treasure of Japan” by the Kasuga Wakamiya Shrine.Recognized as a holder of Nara Prefecture-designated Intangible Cultural Property.Received the Nara Newspaper Cultural Award. 2015: Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.
